Scholarship Process
For the Florida Alpha Chapter - University of Florida

The following procedure will govern the process of awarding “Florida Alpha Alumni Scholarships” by the Florida Alpha Educational Foundation from the Florida Alpha Scholarship Funds (both Gainesville and Richmond) and the Added Dimensions Funds (both Gainesville and Richmond).

Purpose
The purpose of the scholarships is to aid Florida Alpha chapter brothers in the continuation of their education at the University of Florida and in their participation in the Florida Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Award Basis
The scholarships shall be given to the brothers whom the Educational Foundation deems to be the brothers having contributed most to the growth and fraternal spirit of Sigma Phi Epsilon at the University of Florida and have a need for financial assistance.

Selection Procedure
By October 1st the Active Chapter President will confirm with the Educational Foundation that funds are available for FL Alpha Alumni Scholarships and he will inform the Active Chapter members they may apply for scholarships.

By November 1st, applicants for these scholarships will submit their applications via the Active Chapter President to the Educational Foundation. Selection of winners will be made by a Committee of at least three Educational Foundation Board members appointed by the Foundation President. The Active Chapter President will serve as a non-voting member of the Committee.

Eligibility
An applicant for a scholarship must meet the following criteria:

1. Be an initiate, affiliate or pledge of the Florida Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon and in good standing.
2. Plan to return to Florida Alpha and live in the house (or out of the house provided the house is fully occupied) for the full academic year or until he graduates, whichever is earliest.
3. The Active Chapter President and VP of Finance are not eligible.

Scholarship Amount
The number of scholarships and the individual scholarship dollar amount will be determined each year by the Educational Foundation.

Payment
The scholarship payment shall be paid to the UF for benefit of the recipient as payment toward room rent in the chapter house. The payment shall be paid no later than December 1st of the year in which it is awarded and it will be credited toward the upcoming spring semester.

In the event a recipient shall fail to return to the chapter for the spring semester, the Educational Foundation shall have the authority to award the scholarship to a member of its choosing. The new recipient shall be named as soon as possible but no later than February 1st.

Amendments
The Florida Alpha Educational Foundation reserves the right to amend these procedures at any time.
