Alpha Male ScholarSigEp’s make a commitment to being balanced men. This commitment means that they serve in some leadership capacity, are committed to their academics, participate in athletics of any form, and are gentlemen in the community. Since 2003 our members have sought out the honor of becoming a Florida Alpha Male scholarship recipient, these scholarships are bestowed upon members who meet a rigorous set of standards measuring their commitment to being a leader, scholar, athlete, and gentlemen.

The scholarship is awarded annually, during the spring semester, to as many men as is warranted. The award amount varies but it is typically in the range of $200 per recipient.

The requirements for the scholarship are as follows:

  1. Be an active member of Sigma Phi Epsilon in good standing with the fraternity and University
  2. Be a full-time student and meet Dean's list GPA requirements for your specific college. (Ex. 3.2 for Engineering, 3.5 for Warrington College of Business) More examples can be found here. https://catalog.ufl.edu/ugrad/current/Pages/deans-list.aspx
  3. Bench Press 1.5 times your body weight. (Ex. a 180 lb man needs to be able to bench 270 lbs for a one rep max)
  4. Perform 20 wide grip pull-ups (this is how you achieve a perfect score on the marines fitness test)
  5. Run a 6 minute mile
